No Man’s Land – Ledra Street UN crossing point, Nicosia, #Cyprus

This is a part of Cyprus where no-one is allowed to be (legally). Just a few yards of uninhabited properties, abandoned during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.
To this day, Nicosia is still a divided capital with the Republic of Cyprus in the south and north Cyprus (only recognised by Turkey) north of the division.

    1. It is – in reality….. it runs from east to west in the top third of the island.
Both sides are working towards a reunification but who knows how long that will take?
This is how Cyprus has been since the summer of 1974.
