Island Lake Star Shine

“Island Lake Star Shine”

8 image vertical pano shot at Island Lake on top of the Grand Mesa in Colorado. The skies were supposed to be partly cloudy but were pretty much clear the entire evening and I was able to get some of my best Milky Way shots of the year.

I managed to shoot the Milky Way over three different lakes in about two hours with quite a few different compositions.

It was a crazy night up there however….

I was harassed repeatedly by an angry beaver, a car ahead of me on the mesa road hit a cow and killed it, and my tripod fell off a small mound I was shooting from and landed in the lake (luckily the camera end landed right at the waters edge and didn’t go into the water!)

The images for this piece were stitched together using Photoshop Photo Merge, then edited in Adobe Camera Raw, and Photoshop using NIK and Topaz Plug-ins.

Nikon d810
Samyang 14mm f/2.8
ISO 5000
Aperture f/2.8
Shutter 25 seconds
